A Down-to-Earth Autumnal Vow Renewal Ceremony

For Ryan and April's 5 year anniversary, they chose to have a vow renewal ceremony. When they were married in 2008, they only had a small, intimate ceremony, so they opted to do a vow renewal ceremony so that their whole family could attend and celebrate their love! When April had asked me to do their vow renewal ceremony pictures, I was super excited because it was my first big event that I was able to capture.

The beautiful November day was met with a crisp, cool air that filled April's parent's backyard. The sun basked the early evening lawn with a warm glow that allowed attendees to enjoy a relaxing evening without too much of a chill. With a small gathering of only about 30, this was the perfect night to watch two beautiful, loving children of God fall in love all over again.

Before the ceremony, I could definitely tell that April had a bit of a nervous touch to her and understandably so! The wonderful anticipation and excitement of the whole day, the idea of vowing your love and heart to your husband forever in front of everyone; it all holds all the emotion and expectations of excitement like it would on your wedding day!

As the ceremony began, a few words from Ryan were given as to why they decided to celebrate their anniversary in this way. Afterward, Pastor Wakefield offered up some words as wisdom to Ryan and April as they continued their marriage as one flesh and one body in Christ Jesus. Pastor Wakefield has been part of Ryan and April's marriage since the beginning and before, so it's no wonder they asked him to perform the ceremony. After the prayer, Ryan played "I Do Forever," a song he wrote for April especially for this ceremony. After the music, Pastor Wakefield prayed over Ryan and April and their marriage - something he has been doing fervently for many years prior to this ceremony.

After the ceremony, guests were invited to join Ryan and April for cake, coffee, and egg rolls (a staple dish in April's parent's house) and celebrate their five years of marriage.
